Nov 9, 2008	Chris Brubeck's Triple Play 7:30 pm Location: Mariam & Robert Hayes Performing Arts Center 828.295.4636 "Triple Play" is the name given to three outstanding and versatile musicians, Peter "Madcat" Ruth (on harmonica, guitar, jaw harp, percussion and vocals), Joel Brown (folk and classical acoustic guitar and vocals) and Chris Brubeck (electric bass, bass trombone, piano and vocals). Collectively they bring a rare level of joy, virtuosity, and American spirit to the folk, blues, jazz, funk and classical music they perform.

Now Surefire Bluegrass will perform their own concert at the Hayes Center.

Dec 7, 2008	Valle Crucis Fireside Tour 1 - 6 pm Location: Valle Crucis 828-963-2525 The historic community of Valle Crucis invites you to warm up by their firesides on Sunday, December 7th, 2008 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. This tour meanders along country lanes to gift shops, galleries, bed and breakfast inns, restaurants, cabins, and churches where hosts will provide you with refreshments and hospitality throughout the afternoon.
Dec 7, 2008	Glenn Bolick 7:30 pm Location: Mariam & Robert Hayes Performing Arts Center 828.295.9627 Local musician and master potter Glenn Bolick spins old-time bluegrass on guitar and banjo. A descendant of some of the first Appalachian pioneers, Bolick preserves the art of his people through music, stories and homespun jokes.
Dec 21, 2008	High Country Youth Ballet Publicity Chair High Country Youth Ballet will present The Nutcracker on December 20 at 7 p.m. and December 21 at 2 p.m. at Mountain Heritage High School in Burnsville, NC. Dancers are from Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey counties. Beverly D. Shurley, owner and director of The Dance Center, choreographs and directs The Nutcracker. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students age 12 & over and seniors age 65 & over, and $5 for ages 3-11. For more information, please call The Dance Center at 828-765-0448.
