Summer in the High Country is something you do not want to miss out on.

An Appalachian Summer Festival has a number of incredible events that they will be hosting this summer. This Festival has been taking place for 35 years and has continued to have amazing turnout and events that will make you come back for more.

The festival is held at multiple locations on the campus of Appalachian State University. It is a mixture of diverse music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and film programming. This festival has been selected as one of the “Top 20 Events in the Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society.

It has also been mentioned by The New York Times in the “Summer Stages” issue. This is a very popular event local and throughout the High Country.

The Acts

The festival kicks off on June 29th with Ben Folds and the Winston-Salem Symphony. Ben Folds is an incredible pianist, singer-songwriter and is a native to North Carolina. This is an act that you do not want to miss with unforgettable genre-bending music.

A group that will make multiple appearances throughout the festival is the Broyhill Chamber Ensemble. Performing different pieces to showcase a variety of composers and styles. This extraordinary ensemble with talented musicians sure to impress anyone that comes.

Not only does the festival consist of music from all genres but they will also be showcasing Films, educational programming, dance, visual arts, and theatre. There is something for everyone and you will not be disappointed.
