Cave Ridge Vineyard
Wines are only as good as the grapes used to produce them. With that in mind, the vineyards at Cave Ridge are located on the best growing site that can be found. Climate conditions in the Shenandoah Valley, with an average annual rainfall of only 32 inches, create just enough drought stress on the vines to produce intense flavors and aromas in the wines. The soils are deep, well drained, and composed of decomposed limestone laden with marine fossils millions of years old.
The highest quality grape vines, such as French Entav Clones, are grafted in nurseries to special root stock to match soil and climate conditions, and then shipped to cave Ridge for planting. Each grape variety is measured for desired acid, sugar, and tannin levels before being harvested.
Cave Ridge is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery located in the foothills overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, world renowned for its scenic beauty and history. Low rainfall and deep, rocky soils make this an ideal location for growing the highest quality grapes used to make our wines. We produce wines that emphasize the fruit character of the grape using a minimalist approach to our winemaking. Cave Ridge adheres to sustainable farming practices in order to promote a healthy ecosystem for future generations.
Best wine in Virginia.
Maybe the best on the East Coast.
